Wedding Spotlight: Alex & Alyssa

Today, we are lucky enough to be able to feature two of our very own, Alex Pulschen and his beautiful wife Alyssa O’Leary.  Alex is Planestry’s lead software engineer, and Alyssa helps to curate content on our social media pages. We can’t wait to share with you their enchanted woodland wedding and how it came to be. Get ready to feel the magic.

Alyssa and Alex chose to get married in the Woodland Chapel at Stroudsmoor Country Inn.

Alyssa comments – As soon as I saw it the wheels in my head started turning and I began to envision an epic enchanted forest wedding that we then worked to make a reality.  The venue was the perfect cross between ethereal woods and medieval castle.  This worked perfectly with Alex’s love for all things nerdy and my love for all things magical.  With the addition of two twig thrones, tons and draped moss, twinkling vines, a cake cutting sword and millions of dark and drippy candles the venue took on a magical life of its own.

Alyssa’s gown was purchased from BHLDN. She kept a lot of her look DIY, creating her own handcrafted shoes and accessories.

Alyssa’s good friend, and owner of Emma Katzka Bridal, custom made the rose quartz crown that really tied together her look.

Alyssa ended up choosing three different bridesmaid dresses from BHLDN in order to create a dusty palette of mauves, neutrals and light sage.  Their bouquets of deep greens and burgundies, created by the Stroudsmoor floral and décor team, popped perfectly off each and every one of the dresses.  Each of the bridesmaids were gifted handcrafted jewelry designed by the bride including quartz chandelier necklaces and even golden elven ear cuffs.

Alex and his party all kept it classy in slim fitted, black tuxedos rented from CERoth.

Each groomsmen was gift a custom engraved medieval dagger to keep the theme going.

Due to some unexpected rain, the ceremony was moved to a covered candlelit fireside setting at the last minute. While it wasn’t the initial vision, it ended up making the ceremony so much more intimate. Alyssa’s brother officiated the ceremony. Alyssa’s stepmother and Alex’s father both shared their own experiences of love and marriage with guests in lieu of traditional readings.

After the ceremony, the rain stopped and the fog rolled in creating the perfect setting for photographer, Kate Leigh, to capture the amazingness of the day.

Says Alyssa, “We felt so lucky to have such a skilled photographer who could create something so awesome out of such an unpredictable day!”

“Our wedding day was everything we could have wanted and more.  It truly was magical.  Every detailed bit of planning was worth it.  We both made sure that we took everyone’s advice and stopped periodically to really soak it in.  Neither of us had ever laughed, cried, smiled or danced so hard in our lives.  We both ached from extreme happiness the next day.  Having everyone we loved, all in one place, for one epic day, with an epic amount of moss, truly made all of our dreams come true.”

We’re wishing a lifetime of laughter and love to our team members Alex and Alyssa!! Congrats!!
