Our love of beautiful, high end stationery brought us in contact with Stefanie Brooks, the owner of Love Notes Paperie. Stefanie offers a completely custom design experience for her couples, providing them with invitations and coordinating day-of decor that’s unique to them and reflects their vision for the big day.
“I pride myself on offering a very personal client experience. I know that wedding planning can be stressful, and many times brides get completely overwhelmed by the endless amount of options, details, and ideas they’re inundated with (thanks, Pinterest!). I like to think I lighten that load for them. So many of my clients come to me with a lot of different inspirations, but with no real vision of how to combine them successfully. For me, that’s where the magic happens. Most of my favorite designs have come out of trying to puzzle a lot of different looks together. I know it sounds like it will lead to total disaster, but it never does. It’s actually a lot of fun, for me and my couples.”
Like a lot of designers, Stefanie first dabbled in wedding invitation design while planning her own wedding.
“When I’d get stressed out about wedding logistics, I’d work on the details that brought me joy – my invitations, stationery, and decor. Essentially, I wanted to build a brand for my wedding. I found the process itself to be very creatively satisfying, and was equally delighted when so many of my guests complimented all of my lovingly handcrafted details. The next thing I knew, I was designing for friends, and then friends of friends, and then friends of friends of friends, and then… well, you get the picture. It was my side hustle for quite a few years, all the while bringing me ten times the joy I’d get from my day job (which I loved!).
Stefanie’s love for what she does is evident in her responses. When we asked her about a favorite success story, her excitement for her work really shined through.
“This question is impossible. Every time I design a new invitation, I fall in love with it. At the moment, I’d say my favorite is a suite I just completed for one of the sweetest couples I’ve met to date, Cynthia and Tim. It was a pleasure designing for them and the end result is such a wonderful reflection of both of them. We went through a few rounds of design to find the perfect combination of victorian and country. What began as pops of fuschias and bold peony flowers, evolved to lovely shades of purple and sprigs of lavender. I love how many different elements we were able to combine without it feeling like the invitation is over the top – pearls, lace, kraft paper, florals… it’s just divine. I also love that going through the design process with me helped Cynthia find her vision for so many of her other wedding details.”
Besides being one of the best in biz at creating bespoke wedding invitations and stationery goods, Stefanie also offered some sound advice to brides for their big day.
If I have one practical tip, it’s this — food is fuel (I’m always thinking with my stomach, lol!). If there’s a gap of time between your ceremony and reception, pre-order wraps or sandwiches to snack on. No one likes a hangry bridal party! But on a more sentimental note – stop and take it all in! All the little details. The way the light gently hits your partner’s face. The way your wedding band feels now that it’s finally on your finger. The sweet sound of your flower girl’s laughter. The fragrance of your fresh flowers. The glorious taste of your first bite of wedding cake. The way all your hard work and preparation finally comes together. The day goes by so fast, but the more you pause to appreciate it, the longer it will last.
